Bappa Mazumder is also the frontman and co-founder of the legendary band Dalchhut, whose pioneering sound helped define a generation. Whether on stage or in the studio, Bappa continues to inspire with his passion, creativity, and unmatched musicality.

Early Life & Family Legacy
Shubhashish Mojumder Bappa, widely known as Bappa Mazumder, was born on 5th February into one of Bangladesh’s most revered and artistically rich families. From the very beginning, music was not just an influence—it was his inheritance.
His father, the legendary Pandit Barin Mojumder, was a towering figure in Indian classical music and a visionary music educator, he is the founder principal of the only Muisic College in Bangladesh. Barin Mojumder laid the groundwork for generations of musicians. Bappa’s mother, Ila Mojumder, is herself a celebrated Indian classical vocalist whose artistry and discipline left a profound imprint on the subcontinental music scene.
Immersed in this environment of creativity and excellence, Bappa’s musical sensibilities were nurtured from an early age. Trained formally in classical music under his father’s meticulous guidance, he developed a strong foundation that would later allow him to experiment freely with contemporary genres. His exposure to a wide spectrum of musical forms—ranging from raga to rock—shaped his versatile and boundary-blurring sound.
Bappa is the youngest of three siblings, each deeply embedded in the world of arts and culture. His brother, Partha Sarathi Mojumder, is a prominent musician, while his other brother, Partha Pratim Majumder, is an internationally acclaimed mime artist, celebrated for elevating the art form on the global stage. Their home was more than a household—it was a living conservatory where creativity flourished amid instruments, performances, rehearsals, and passionate dialogue about the arts.
This rare blend of tradition and innovation, discipline and freedom, would define Bappa’s artistic journey. His early life experiences not only honed his technical mastery but also shaped his signature musical identity—deeply emotional, melodically rich, and always rooted in authenticity.
Early 1990s to 2000
Bappa Mazumder began his journey as a professional musician in the early 1990s. His debut solo album Tokhon Bhor Bela was released in 1996, marking the beginning of a remarkable solo career. A year earlier, in 1995, Bappa met Sanjeeb Choudhury through the introduction of Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel. Their creative chemistry was immediate and profound, leading them to collaborate on several music projects.
This collaboration eventually gave birth to Dalchhut, a band initially formed as a duo. In 1996, Dalchhut released their debut album Aah…, which broke away from the conventional sound of the time. The album was well-received, with songs like Shada Moyla and Kaga becoming notable hits and gaining widespread popularity among listeners.
In 1998, Bappa released his second solo album Kothao Keu Nei, further establishing himself as a prolific artist. 2012 to 2016
